Panel Discussion on "Our Future Diversity"

HOME > Panel Discussion on "Our Future Diversity" organized by Diversity Committee

According to a 2015 survey by the Japan Inter-Society Liaison Association Committee for Promoting Equal Participation of Men and Women in Science and Engineering, compared to the 32% of female student members of the Japan Neuroscience Society, the percentage of female ordinary members is a relatively high 22%, making the society one of the better associations in terms of retaining young female researchers. The Society's Committee of Gender Equality has been active in promoting the cultivation of female researchers, and from this year, following the appointment of Chairman Isa, the name has been changed to the Committee for Diversity. The significance of this is that it broadens the scope of activities and refocuses on the cultivation of young neuroscientists, including males, as well as foreign researchers, who are currently a minority. It is hoped that the panel discussion, which includes Dr. Zoghbi, one of the Plenary Lecturers, as well as President Isa, will provide future direction from a broader perspective as we grapple with the diversity challenges facing the Society.
